MORFOLOGIA 

 

Portamento e dimensioni: pianta annuale, alta tra 10 e 20 cm, ma raggiunge anche i 90 cm.

 

Fusto: fusti numerosi, fascicolati, avvolti dalle guaine solo nella parte inferiore.

 

Foglie:  foglie con lamina allungata, larga fino a 5 mm

 

Fiori: infiorescenza avvolta alla base da 3-4 brattee superanti i fiori; rami 3-8 lunghi 3-10 cm; spighe bruno-giallastre di circa 2 x 10 mm, con rachide abbastanza largamente alato.  Fiorisce da luglio a settembre.

 

Frutti e semi: achenio trigono-elissoidale.

 

DISTRIBUZIONE E HABITAT

 

Alloctona invasiva presente dalla Toscana in su escluse Liguria e Val d’Aosta.. Vegeta nelle rive e fra le fanghiglie, dal piano fino ai 300 m.

MORPHOLOGY

Habit and Size: Annual plant, typically 10 to 20 cm tall, but can grow up to 90 cm.

Stem: Numerous stems, clustered, surrounded by sheaths only in the lower part.

Leaves: Leaves with elongated blades, up to 5 mm wide.

Flowers: Inflorescence surrounded at the base by 3-4 bracts exceeding the flowers; branches 3-8, 3-10 cm long; spikes yellowish-brown, about 2 x 10 mm, with a fairly broadly winged rachis. Blooms from July to September.

Fruits and Seeds: Triangular-ellipsoid achene.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT

Invasive non-native species present from Tuscany northward, excluding Liguria and Aosta Valley. Grows on riverbanks and muddy areas, from sea level up to 300 meters.
