MORFOLOGIA 

 

Portamento e dimensioni: erbacea perenne, alta 20-50 cm, stolonifera e cespitosa.

 

Fusto:  fusti ginocchiati e ascendenti, in alto compressi su due lati.

 

Foglie: foglie larghe 2-4 mm, le superiori con ligula di 1-2 mm.

 

Fiori: pannocchia densa, spesso unilaterale, con rami eretti o eretto-patenti; spighette 5-8flore di 4 mm. Fiorisce da maggio ad agosto.

 

Frutti e semi: i frutti sono cariossidi.

 

DISTRIBUZIONE E HABITAT

 

Presente in tutta Italia in incolti e lungo le strade, da 0 a 1.500 m.

MORPHOLOGY

 

Habit and dimensions: Perennial herbaceous plant, 20-50 cm tall, stoloniferous and tufted.

 

Stems: Kneeling and ascending stems, compressed on two sides towards the top.

 

Leaves: Leaves are 2-4 mm wide, with upper ones having a ligule of 1-2 mm.

 

Flowers: Dense panicle, often unilateral, with upright or spreading branches; spikelets with 5-8 flowers, measuring 4 mm. Blooms from May to August.

 

Fruits and seeds: The fruits are caryopses.

 

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT

 

Present throughout Italy in uncultivated areas and along roadsides, from 0 to 1,500 m.
