MORPHOLOGY
Habit and dimensions: Perennial herbaceous plant, 10-30 centimeters tall.
Stem: Prostrate or ascending stems.
Leaves: Lanceolate or oval-shaped leaves, light green in color, with a slightly hairy surface. They are arranged alternately along the stem.
Flowers: The flowers, measuring 8-12 mm, are pink when in bud, then turn intense blue with a yellow center, with a tubular corolla and five lobes. They are clustered in raceme or spiral-shaped
inflorescences along the stem. Blooms from May to September.
Fruits and seeds: The fruits are small capsules containing numerous seeds.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT
Present throughout Italy except for the major islands, found on riverbanks, marshes, and moist meadows, between 0 and 2,000 meters.
